The Sri Chandippa Marakata Shivalinga Someshwara Swamy Temple, located in Chandippa village, Shankarpally mandal, Ranga Reddy district, is one of the most ancient Shiva temples near Hyderabad. Consecrated on October 23, 1101 AD during the reign of Western Chalukya king Vikramaditya VI, the temple enshrines a rare Marakata (emerald-hued) Shivalinga that emits a remarkable greenish luminescence during abhishekam. Revived in 2011 after centuries of neglect, it is approximately 35 km from Hyderabad.
