Introduction

Sita Ram Bagh Mandir, also known as Sitaram Bagh Temple or Seetharambagh Temple, is a historic temple in Mangalhat, Hyderabad. Dedicated to Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, and Lord Hanuman, the temple is one of the old heritage shrines of Hyderabad and a rare example of devotional architecture shaped by multiple cultural influences.

The temple is known for its large walled campus, old gateways, courtyards, wells, and a striking blend of Rajput, Mughal, and Qutb Shahi architectural features. It remains a sacred space for Rama bhakti and a valuable part of Hyderabad's Old City heritage.

History

Sita Ram Bagh Mandir was built in 1825 by Seth Puranmal Ganeriwala, a banker associated with the Nizams of Hyderabad. The temple was originally built in what was then the outskirts of Hyderabad, at Mallepally-Mangalhat, and later became part of the growing city.

The temple received patronage during the Nizam period. Historical accounts mention that revenue support was granted for its maintenance, and later contributions were also made toward reconstruction and upkeep. The temple has been recognised as a heritage building by INTACH, reflecting its architectural and cultural importance.

Main Deities

The presiding deities of the temple are Lord Rama and Goddess Sita, worshipped with deep devotion as the divine couple of the Ramayana. Lord Hanuman, the ideal devotee of Rama, is also central to the temple's sacred identity.
